The subtlety of mark making can be explored through unconventional photographic techniques by exploiting surface boundaries on metal, glass and wood,providing a integral interplay between the contemporary and the archaic within my artistic practice. My current practice has evolved into the identity, self, gender and the communication of such issues through the use of monochromatic stills. The absence of colour is representational of nostalgic elements and influences such as family albums and collected aesthetic objects which link intercultural visual dialogue with cultural identity, self/female identity and individual voice. Am I a female, a body, an artist, an emotion or a culture? The structure of my images are intended to progress to a performative content displaying vulnerability, movement, self-reflection and thought, bringing the inside out.

Within the parameters of drawing, printmaking, photography and performance fused together by philosophy, I search for dialogue, mourning and affirmation for the existence of dualities. The pinhole camera encompasses these elements as they act as a vessel to contain the Event objective from the artist. Light leaves traces of our ghosts, and even if the image is not captured on print, does not mean the image does not exist. Recently, I am using the camera obscura  to create living photographs that we can enter, and leave traces of ourselves. But as light fades, the work dies. I see this role of mourning, remembering and letting go, as a reminder of our finite lives. I want to create these living photos interacting with the everyday, with ourselves, and with the in-between.

Photography is capable of extracting, recording and also recovering the daily life in our reality. For my past work, I took documentary photos to record the  surroundings,the styles of living and the mental status of the ordinary people in our society.. Recently I use documentary methods to take fine art and portraiture photos. I want to order the pictures like a photographic journey, to tell people a story through the images. I will continue this journey, taking images of everything that we encounter in our ordinary life. Life is simple, suppleness is beauty, and life is in a still image.
